The aim of the course is to provide the students with basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. By the end of the course the students will have acquired a fair knowledge of the full range of basic grammatical structures and vocabulary. Although most topics will follow those covered in the course textbook, others will be introduced using supplementary resource material.
After completing the course, students should be able to:
• Communicate orally and in writing with a fair degree of accuracy on a basic range of subject areas.
• Describe and discuss present and past events..
• With preparation, present a grammatically correct and coherent argument.
• Read and understand elementary texts.
